What a long but great day. We woke up early (5:15 am) and served breakfast to the kids this morning. We served cereal to many happy and wide awake children. They all loved the different cereals and fruit we had, they even had seconds some thirds. Then it was off to school for all the kids. We were able to go to a local coffee shop and have some great coffee to wake us up a little more. We had devotions there then headed back to the orphanage to start on our projects.
We were able to complete some of our bigger projects today! The tile and grout was completed in the bakery and now starting on the drop celing. The boys dorm got completed this afternoon and it looks awesome!! While the guys were finishing in the boys dorm and another small group shopping a few of us ladies started to clean out the boys kitchen that is now storage for a years supply of noodles. We were cleaning and reorganizing and saw that there was defiantly something that was getting into the noodles.... So before we got any further we got reinforcements (chase) and we are sure glad we did. We got almost all the boxes moved except for 4 and chase found one rat. We thought we were ok to continue until chase started to say he found another and then once he hit the second one it was mad chaos. 8 rats came out and were going everywhere! Two escaped up the wall and got out, one went into the wood burning stove. All others were hit with sticks and all of us ladies were outside or standing on tables and counters. Luckily Glenn had come over and helped chase with all this mad chaos. After all said and done we started a fire in the stove and flushed out one of the three rats. So in the end we had a total of 8 rats dead and 2 escaped. I guess never a dull moment!
After lunch we moved all the supplies into the bakery to start on the drop celing. Some people from the group started on the office hallway and bathroom. We decide to do some mosaic pieces in the hallway and cool design for the bathroom. We will finish grouting in those areas tomorrow then tile the pharmacy and girls bathroom.
We had another great bonfire night with the kids. We sang, roasted hotdogs and marshmallows with all the kids for about an hour. It it's always a good time to share with the kids, marshmellow faces and hands. The kids can sure put stuff away I don't know how but whenever there is food there is nothing left! :)
Tomorrow is a new day of projects and we are having a pizza party with the kids over lunch. We all can't believe the week is almost over. :(
