The Day of Being Flexible Sunday Aug 4

Today was another great day at the orphanage! Our plan was to eat breakfast and head over for a worship service with the kids. We would then play with the kids for a little bit before leaving again for lunch. We were hoping to return to continue our head start with the projects as well as enjoy more play time with the kids. However, our plan did not go according to schedule.

This morning we all started out great by being to breakfast at 8am. At 8:15am we were informed we needed to get on the bus because the hotel did not have the breakfast they normally have for us. So we packed up and had a delicious meal at another restaurant. Unfortunately our travel time to a new restaurant made us late for the service we were going to attend at the orphanage.  So after breakfast we headed to the orphanage and played with the kids instead.

Soon after we arrived we learned about the fair. Apparently Huehuetenango was having its first ever fair and the kids of Fundacion Salvacion were the special guests for the day. Not some kids, ALL OF THEM. We brought approximately 80 kids to the fair and WE were the chaperones. We were told each of us would have 3 kids that we were responsible for and that we needed to be sure they were still with us when we returned. I could definitely write a full blog on our fair experience but you will just have to ask us when we return. The highlight of the fair had to have been the transportation to and from. We had our van with 20 adults which fits us moderately comfortable by ourselves and then we had one other van. The kids filled the first van quick and the others were told to all go into ours. By the time we were on the road we had 67 people counted for in our van. It was quite an experience! Don't worry we have pictures!

We eventually got back and went to lunch around 3pm. We were planning on some vbs but we didn't have time so we just played with the kids. It was last night after devotions that we were reminded to be flexible. I think God wanted to make sure we were listening for today:) He definitely got our attention and I think we are all looking forward to see what He has for us tomorrow.

Please pray that we continue to be flexible and to step outside of our box. Also pray that we may hear Jesus calling and  speaking to us on this trip. So that we can respond, "Here I am Lord. Is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart."

What an interesting day! Always something new to experience! Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape! We always have to do that for DRS! Nothing goes according to plan. Actually it was that way for many years. Hope your day goes better today! Sometimes it's more fun to be surprised. Prayers for a great day of work and play for all!.
